Valerie Gwyneth Lai

After completing her Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Amsterdam, Valerie Gwyneth Lai (1999, Hong Kong) started the Bachelor of Music Theater at Codarts University of the Arts, from which she graduated cum laude in 2024.

Valerie was last seen as the alternate Elsa in Disney Frozen . During her third year at Codarts, Valerie appeared in Spring Awakening as Ilse Neumann, and subsequently appeared in Ivo van Hove’s Jesus Christ Superstar as the ensemble/cover Mary. In the spring of 2025, she played Nannerl Mozart in the children’s show Fanny & Nannerl Take Over! by Theater Sonnevanck and Phion. Besides being a performer, Valerie is also a theater maker and songwriter. She is currently working on her first EP and the further development of her solo show “Waar Het Over Gaat”.

Valerie also works extensively as a voice actress for television and film. She has voiced leading and supporting roles in K-pop Demon Hunters, Bet, Totally Spies, and Mermaid Magic.
